Snow pleasure

The last thing I expected when I chose Jordan as my project was snow. It has however now been snowing for three consecutive days. During those days more centimeters of snow dropped from the skies than in the last four years, someone told me. And just as in Europe, public life gets completely disrupted. However, in Jordan they take this one step further. Offices, schools, cafes and restaurants are practically all closed. The internet is not working and the roads are impossible to cross. Great opportunity to work from home.

Did take some photos in my street:

Snow man is definitely part of this!

But also some pictures of the inconveniences the snow brings. We were all out of supplies, if not I would have stayed at home, but during this trip to the supermarket I was not able to keep dry feet. Up to my ankles in the water. Can someone explain people here what the benefits are of sewerage ?

Madaba
The plan was to go this weekend to Petra or Wadi Rum, but given the weather we had to cancel. Right before the bad weather set in we made a nice trip to Madaba. The town itself was nothing special but it holds the most impressive mosaics I've ever seen. All beautifully preserved. Because someone kept the mosaics wet using a sponge, the colors were beautiful and bright. I know pictures like these can bore quite easily, so I have made a very small selection:

This week is very important for our project. We finalize the value proposition of the new organization we want to put in the market for Save the Children. The regional director was pleased with the first thoughts we showed him last week. Now it comes down to pulling together a solid presentation in order to convince seven country directors during a workshop in Istanbul in two weeks time. I am starting to believe that this project will be able to leave its mark on youth in the Middle East.

More trips do await us. If the weather permits, I will sleep next weekend in the desert of Wadi Rum.

We shall see, or:

Insha'Allah :-)
